This is a daily list of top high school sports performers for baseball, boys golf, boys volleyball and boys track and field in the South Bend area for April 21-26, 2025, compiled from information provided to The South Bend Tribune by coaches, athletic directors, and team statisticians, as well as scores and info from social media.

BASEBALL
Wednesday, April 23
NIC scores: Penn 3, Mishawaka Marian 1; SB Saint Joseph 10, SB Adams 0; New Prairie 9, Elkhart 3; SB Washington 10, SB Riley 5. The latter saw the Panthers erase a 5-0 deficit to know off their South Bend city rivals. New Prairie also rallied for its win, erasing a 3-0 margin after the first inning, in part to eight Elkhart errors. AJ LaSane had three RBIs for Saint Joseph in its win
Goshen picked up its first NLC win of the year, beating Warsaw, 13-3 (6 innings). Braxton Cline went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs for the RedHawks.
Connor Reed tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout to lead NorthWood past Northridge, 4-0.
Izaiah Bute, Shawn Nowacki, Kamden Putz and Drew Ginter combined for seven hits and nine RBIs in a 13-3 victory for Mishawaka over Wawasee.
Tuesday, April 22
NIC scores: Penn 9, Mishawaka Marian 0; SB Saint Joseph 10, SB Adams 2; Elkhart 4, New Prairie 3; SB Riley 8, SB Washington 1. Notable performances were Penn senior Mason Braun with a triple and three RBIs, Saint Joseph's Brady Langager with a triple, home run and four RBIs, Elkhart winning on a walk-off balk, and Riley's Max Kotinek striking out 10 batters against Washington.
Elkhart wasn't the only team to win with a walk-off, as Jimtown's Mason Armstrong singled in the bottom of the eighth, scoring Dalton Cook for a 5-4 victory against Kouts.
La Porte picked up a 6-2 win over Chesterton, in large part to CT Rusboldt's three-RBI performance. Cody Ryden also twirled a complete game four-hitter for the Slicers.
JJ Cencelewski had three hits and three RBIs in an 11-4 win for Bremen over Pioneer.
In Michigan, Niles junior Brenden Olsen kept up his sensational season, collecting three hits and three RBIs in a 4-1 victory over Vicksburg. Jaxen Racht pitched a complete game in the win for the Vikings. Bryce Zache then added three hits and three RBIs in the second game of the doubleheader, won, 10-1, by Niles.
Monday, April 21
Concord rallied to beat NorthWood, 8-7, in a Northern Lakes Conference opener for both. The Minutemen (2-2, 1-0 NLC) trailed, 5-2, through four innings and 7-6 going into the bottom of the sixth. Rennye Davila delivered the game-winning hit for Concord, a two-RBI single in the sixth. He went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. The Panthers drop to 3-2 (0-1 NLC).
Mishawaka held off a late Plymouth rally for an 8-7 NLC win. Shawn Nowacki had a three-run home run for the Cavemen, while Connor Handley pitched five strong innings to earn the win. The Pilgrims (4-5, 0-1 NLC) nearly forced extras by scoring four in the bottom of the seventh, but Mishawaka survived.
Other NLC contests saw Warsaw beat Wawasee, 12-0, and Northridge beat Goshen, 5-2. Braxton Nagy pitched a complete game in the latter contest for the Raiders with six strikeouts.
New Prairie baseball has won five in a row after a 4-3 victory over Michigan City. Zak Henrich's solo home run in the top of the seventh provided the winning run for the Cougars.
Notable other scores: Fairfield 9, Churubusco 3 in NECC action; Falcons remain unbeaten in conference play (6-2 overall, 3-0 NECC).
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
Wednesday, April 23
Noah Dibley had 21 assists, 18 digs and seven service aces as Elkhart beat Adams in four sets.
Tuesday, April 22
BJ Forbes had 10 kills and seven service aces as Penn swept Mishawaka Marian, 3-0, in NIC play.
Monday, April 21
South Bend Riley won a five-set thriller over Saint Joseph, 25-20, 25-16, 17-25, 22-25, 15-7. Austin Pflugner had 15 kills, 14 digs, four service aces and three blocks to pace the Wildcats.
BOYS GOLF
Tuesday, April 22
Elkhart improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in NIC matches, beating Saint Joseph and Riley at Elcona Golf Club. The Lions carded a 162, Saint Joseph 170 and Riley 249. Lions freshman Ben Divido earned medalist honors with a 35.
No. 16 state-ranked SB Trinity at Greenlawn kept up its impressive start as well, shooting 158 to beat ECA (195) and Lakeland Christian (250) at Knollwood. Dane Sweikar paced the Titans with a 37.
Monday, April 21
Penn beat Adams and Washington in an NIC dual. Kingsmen shot 152, Eagles 176 and the Panthers did not have a team score with only three players. Corbyn Ohara was the medalist from Penn with a 37. Tommy Hornback shot a 41 to lead Adams.
Plymouth beat Mishawaka Marian head-to-head, 154-172. The Pilgrims' Caleb Harland shot even-par 36 to be the top performer of the match.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD
Wednesday, April 23
Penn picked up an NIC victory, 93-39, over Elkhart. The Kingsmen had three sophomores take the top three spots in the 1,600-meter run in Owen Newman, Gavin Stabnik and Nate Hannah. For the Lions, junior Alonzo Newbern won the 100- and- 200-meter dashes, while Trenton Bias won both the discus and shot put.
Bremen senior Luke Kincaid triumphed in the 800- and- 3,200-meter runs, as well as on the 4X400-meter relay, during a meet with Culver Academies and Jimtown. Teammate Blake Groves won both hurdles races (110 and 300). Jimtown did well in the field events: Javen Jackson won the high jump, Brayden House shot put and Jose Cervantes discus.
